While we were in Ohio, we spent a couple of nights decorating gingerbread houses. The kids had each made a grahm cracker house at breakfast with Santa, but we had so much fun we did it again. om had bought lots and lots of candy to decorate them: Dots, peach and holiday rings, M&Ms, Neopoleans, and Peanut Butter Crisps for the roof. We made each house a little differently using a Jiffy Muffin box as a base.
Savannah and Mikey were SO different when it came to decorating the houses. She had frosting everywhere, even her clothes were completely frosted. And, she kept eating the candy, so she had frosting ALL over her face and hair. Why use a sppon to spread the frosting when you can just put your hands in the bowl and then rub it all over your house? That was Savannah's style. Mikey, on the other hand, was very neat and presise. He never overloaded his spoon. He was so very careful to cover each and every spot, and he made very sure that the icing was nice and even all over. Not a spot of frosting anywhere on his clothes or body. Putting the candy on the house was more of the same. Savannah COVERED every available space with candy. No rhyme or reason, she just stuck handfulls and globs into the frosting. She flattened her hand and would just mush it right in. Mikey had a very well thought out plan. Peanut Butter on the roofs, M&Ms all around, dots and wafers on the sides.
Even though they had very different styles, the house were both wonderful. They did very good jobs.
