Park Play

We had had beautiful, Spring weather. Not too cold, not to hot. Savannah and I have been spending lots of time at the park. She loves to play with her big bouncy ball. She also loves the slides. Going down them on her belly, or throwing her ball down first.

My Beautiful Girl

Welcome to the 80s!

It was 80s day at school last Friday, and Savannah wanted to dress up! I made legwarmers and shoulder pads for her clothes, and she wore a bunch of blue eyeshadow and pink lipglass. Her two good friends, Kyle and Marriyah, also dressed up. She loves spirit days at school!

Shark Reef

Savannah loves to go to Shark Reef! We went yesterday afternoon with Meg and Kara, and we all had so much fun! The two girls loved seeing all the fish and animals! Highlights were the golden crocodile, the tiger fish, and the green tree monitor. They also spent quite a bit of time petting the sting rays and horseshow crabs. It took Savannah quite awhile to work up the nerve to touch a crab! We hung out on the "shipwreck" for awhile and looked at all the sharks and fish. We did see the sawfish several times, but had no luck in spotting the sea turtles.

Team Jersey Day

It was jersey day at school. Savannah wore her Cleveland Browns jersey proudly, and was excited that she wasn't the on;y Browns fan in her class.

Savannah's 6th Birthday Party

Yesterday we had Savannah's 6th Birthday!!! I controlled myself and went with a really low-key mellow party at In-N-Out Burger. That was the onlyplace she wanted to have it. I got bubbles, coloring books, and Pin the Tail on the Donkey. The kiddos (10 total) got to run around and play on the patio. They seemed to have a god time! We all had burgers, fries, and milkshakes for lunch. Then we opened presents and had Hello Kitty cupcakes. Savannah said she had so mucg fun at her party!

The first week of 2011 is over...

We survived the first, very busy week o2011!

We celebrated Savannah's 6th birthday! I can hardly believe that my angel is 6 already!

We had lots of pink and purple cupcakes with her class at school. She loved having her class sing Happy Birthday to her
Sav also got lots and lots of presents: lip gloss and nail polish, Zhu Zhu stuff, and a ton of Littlest Pet Shop

Savannah also got her alphabet crown at school. The kids are tested by the principal to make sure they know all thier letters and sounds. She's been ready for this since before Thanksgiving and was so excited to get hers!

We also had a snow day! Savannah didn't get to spend a lot of time in the snow since she was at her Dad's house, but there was enough snow on my car for her to make some snowballs

Some very unusual weather...

I woke up this morning to SNOW!!!! We had a few tiny snow flurries last night at bedtime, but it was really snowing today. Almost makes me miss Ohio. But, luckily here in LV, the snow is already gone and I can go about my day without having to dig myself out or use a snow brush

2011 Has Arrived

Savannah and I woke up this morning, and we had a big talk about goals and resolutions over a stack of chocolate chip waffles. We talked about little goals and big goals and things we would like to do in 2011.

Savs 2 resolutions:
- Do 20 situps every week
- Ride a horse
My 2 resolulations:
- Walk/Run 365 miles, thats just one a day
- Finish up a lot of older, hlaf done projects

Besides the above 2 I have a couple of more things that I would really like to work on.
The first is that I would really like to be more active in my church. Right now I go once or twice a month and watch online the other days. I want to make it a goal to go EVERY Sunday. I am amazed at how much I really enjoy it when I go, yet somehow I still end up in front of the computer in my jammies.
Another is get a better understanding of my finances. I have a little bit of debt, and now have my house, but want to take more control. I'm planning on starting Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University through my Church. I don't expect to be deby free or have a huge amount in savings at the end of the year with my job changes, but am hoping to have a better grasp on how to do those things.
I also have been really inspired by Cathy Z and want to spend the year Moving More and Eating Less. I've developed both good and bad habits in the last year and want to just work towards a healthier life. Not timing my runs or my distance, just getting out there and doing it. Just working towards walking a mile a day.
5 Little Goals for January:
1. Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week.
2. Drink more water, less soda
3. Read with Savannah 30 minutes a day
4. Stop shopping out of boredom
5. Paint one room in the house

A Very Merry Christmas

We had a very, very Merry Christmas. Lots of time spent with cousins and family. We all got way too much stuff, we must have been VERY good this past year. The highlight for me was watching Savannah open her new Princess bike. She loved it and is now totally and completely obsessed. I know that I've officially become a grown up, my fave gift was the new ceiling fan for my bedroom.

Excalibur

We spent the evening at Excalibur. We had planned on going to see the Tournement of Kings, but the show was sold out. We ended up in the arcade where Savannah and Mikey had a blast playing arcade games. They both did so well! Savannah won a pink fish, a red rose, and 2 Little Pet Shop stuffed toys. Mikey won a blue fish and hit the BONUS to win a ton of tickets. Savannah ended up getting 2 Hannah Montana poster/puzzles with her tickets, and Mikey traded his tickets for a golden Jackpot mug. We also did 2 of the 4D rides while we were there, Spongebob Squarepants and The Polar Express. The 2 kids loves Spongebob, but I totally loved the Polar Express. My fave part was when they made it snow, even the kids tried to grab and touch it.

My Christmas Angel

Love this photo of Miss Savannah taken tonight. Just an impromptu shot of her standing next to a Christmas Tree at dinner, but it just captured her perfectly. Fancy, girly dress with messy hair... that's my girl

Time for some really big changes

I found out a few days ago that the company I've worked for for my whole adult life is being sold. No more part-time, work at home, stay home with the kiddo life for me. It would be an understatement to say that I am not taking it well. I don't do well with change, and this is a HUGE change for me.

In the spirit of moving forward, I have decided that instead of going right back to work, I am going to finish up my teaching degree. That statement absolutely terrifies me. It means not having much of an income for the next year, and using up absolutely every penny that I have. It means 19 credit hour semesters and lots and lots of studying. It means taking a huge leap of faith in education and hoping that my degree will open doors to a good job and a secure future for Sav and I.

Home Depot Holiday Kids Camp

Savannah and I were joined by our friends Kyle, Jenna, and Amber at the Holiday Kids Camp by Home Depot. We've gone to the monthly camps several times, Savannah always enjoys getting to build and make things. This one was really fun. The kids got to make a holiday picture frame, meet Santa, make a plaster handprint, and they even had a soccer game. They even had a guy that was making balloon animals. We also ran into Aiden from her class, so they had another friend to play with for a bit. It was a really fun way to spend a Saturday morning!
