Thanksgiving Tidbits

Do you cook all or part of the meal?
Not usually, Kevin is the cook in our house so he does most of the cooking. Since he is working this Thanksgiving and I am spending it with Gert and Becca I am going to make a desert. I havn't decided what yet, but am leaning towards a cake.

Do you eat at home or go to someone else’s?
This changes every year. Growing up we always had Thanksgiving at home and everyone came to our house. Since my family isn't close anymore we would go over Kevin's parents house. The lat 2 years we have gone to Gert and Becca's house afterwards for desert. This year Kevin is working so I am just taking Savannah over to Gert and Becca's to have Thanksgiving with friends.

White meat or dark?
Definately white meat, yummy turkey :)

Anything you won’t eat at the Thanksgiving meal?
I am actually a really picky eater. I have never tasted Green Bean Casserole, Squash, or Yams with marshmellows even though my family had these every Thanksgiving. They just don't seem like something I would like.
My plate usually consists of Turkey, mashed potatos and gravy, green beans (plain) or peas, and bread. Not terribly exotic, but just what I like.

Favorite pie?
Hands down, pumpkin pie. Especially my mom's handmade pie. Yummy!!!
Since I rarely get pumpkin, apple would be second.

Do you watch the Macy’s Parade?
I havn't watched this in a few years, but I loved watching it as a kid. I was going to try and let Savannah watch it this year, but I am not sure if she is old enough to enjoy it yet.

Christmas decorations up before or after?
After. We usually still have up our Fall decorations for Thanksgiving. The weekend after Thanksgiving we set up our tree and have everyone come over for dinner and to help decorate it.

Black Friday shopping or sleep in?
Black Friday used to be one of my fave holidays, I mean who doesn't love shopping? The last 2 years I missed because I was very pregnant (2004) and had a baby (2005). I was planning on going with my friend Meg, but am not sure I am going to. I am not a fan of getting up that early and I already have a bunch of my presents planned out. I am definately leaning towards sleeping in.

Favorite Thanksgiving memory?
It seems like a wierd memory to have becaue Thanksgiving is all about being Thankful and noy Greedy. Aunt Jeanne-Marie would always come visit from Pheonix for Thanksgiving. Mom and Grandma would be in the kitchen cooking dinner, the guys would be in the living room watching football. Jeanne and I would go through the ads in the paper for Black Friday and make huge long Christmas lists that we would hand out during dinner. After a few years it became a family joke, and the lists would just get longer and longer. It wasn't so much about the gifts, more about the spending time together.
